Sri Lanka were the toppers in the Group C of 1st round. They have had a fantastic first round where they defeated the Australians and West Indians. On the other hand, former T20 World Cup runner-up Pakistan ad to lose against the host England and had to fight for the place in Super 8s against Netherlands.
The recent form of Sri Lanka seems to be pumped up, in all the forms from Bowling, Batting to Fielding. The experienced fellows like Sanath Jayasuriya, Murali, Dilsan and Sangakara have already shown their capabilities in past matches. The young legs of Mendis and other players have done a lot for this success. The new captain Kumar Sangakkara seems to be well fitted in his job till now. Sri Lanka had played its both matches against the great teams and has won in both.
Pakistan had a sad start to the tournament in England where they lost to the host nation in their opener for this year’s ICC World Twenty20. Their performance against the Netherlands was at the top. Never forget that the Dutch had defeated the host England earlier. It was suppose to be a pressure match for the Pakistan. Pakistan has a decent bowling and batting lines. It will better if their top order again fires with a great start than the run-making seems to be lot easier looking at the paper line-up.
The winning of this match must be vital for both the teams. With the winning start, they have very high chance of getting to the semi-final as one of the remaining team is Ireland. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will love to register the victory to release the pressure in the upcoming matches of T20 World Cup 2009. Weather also seems to be brilliant in London for cricket, no chance of rain and little warmer than compared earlier days.
